I've had my cube for ages now. Nothing wrong with it It reads all the discs fine and dandy! And i have dropped it a few times. Its probably the razor on yours is fucked. I busted the fan barrier on the right side of mine. So, one day I was bored and opened it completly. I was amazed at what I saw.

It helps if you get it slightly wet(the top/tip part) It helps the electricality(yes it is a word ) conduct. I'll have to try that next time it does not work. i'll try it too(if i even play n64 again i'll probably use the virtual console)

yeah my cube hasn't been reading the disc properly from time to time, and just recently, while playing SSX3 the sound would cut out every once in awhile, or it would just stop and tell me to refer to the manual. It's really weird, and is freaking me out, but i've had minimal problems with older console, other then the eariler stated dust removal ritual, and some losse wires. Oh and some cartarges are burnt out and don't work at all any more.

My GC has a problem reading discs every now and then, and sometimes when I'm playing it will make a weird clicky screetchy noise and a few minutes later it will usually report a disc read error and I have to turn it off..I guess it's starting to die :[ It's weird though 'cause I can still play my Atari just fine and my NES if..I rig it up right..and I've had those for a whooole lot more years than my GC. o.O *Sigh* They just don't make things as durable as they used to now-a-days..

How did you think nintendo made stuff so cheap? They use plastic, chewing gum, and paper clips to hold the GCN together. lol

Didn't cut off once! ;D Ya, our GC lasts 5 Minutes to 2 Hours then it cuts off.

lol that's from xplay(on g4). It seems like everything on this site ends up with us talking about g4. on the easter egg one it was about cheat(a show on g4). and than on another topic we talked about midnight spank.

The reason cartridge based consoles don't die out before their CD based successors, is because cartridges are completely solid state with no moving parts that can wear out.

My Gamecube's been acting up for a while now. For a long time actually. What'll hapen is that I turn it on and if, if, the the Cube reads the disc then it'll play for a while but then shut down later on. Odd thing is it shuts down but I can still hear the fan spinning. My guess it the laser's worn out. any one else have problems with their cube? my problem 1 time was that it would go to the menu and read the disc but the a button wouldnt work.i tried my wavebird and my other two nintendo brand controllers.but an our later it was fine.its withstood a lot.the open button gets stuck and by dumb as hell cousin dropped it on solid concrete 2 years ago.since hill be a idiot and by a ps3 ill have to guard my wii(no jokes please)with a gun

my n64 also works but it's really hard to get a game going on it i have to blow the cartridges and stuff like that to get it I hate it when I have to do that. It was like a retual almost. I love doing that with my SNES games. It's so much more statisfying then just clicking file>load rom.
