Flash is Broken: Help!

I returned from my holiday last week to find that Flash insisted on installing itself every time it was opened. But it keeps giving me Error 1317, saying there was an error creating the directory. Has this happened to anyone else, and what should I do? I did the solutions on the Adobe website but they didn't work.
