I'm getting a Laptop!! I've been saving up, but Circuit City is having a sale and I was able to convince my mom to buy it while it's cheap, then keep it in her room until I pay her back. But I have a feeling she'll ease up when she gets it and will let me use it. Feel free to discuss your laptop, or laptop(s) you want to buy.

My first laptop (currently using) is like 9 years old. Originally it had windows 98 on it before it was even mine. A friend's mom used it for work and she gave it to my parents and they got it refurbished it and upgraded it to windows XP. The thing is so old that I had to buy a chip to make it use wireless internet and it requires a docking station for CDs and floppy disks. They don't even make docking stations anymore. But since it's a Toshiba it's durable and long lasting. It has a Pentium 3 in it and its RAM is the minimum required for XP.
Hopefully if I go to Full Sail, I'll be getting an iMac cuz they have a deal that if you pay $2000, you'll get the iMac with all school needs already installed in it. The school has wireless internet all around campus, so basically the laptop will become my life for the 2 year accelerated program.
My parents won't let me get a new laptop until then though.

I am currently using a Toshiba laptop that I've had for about 3 1/2 years now, but I plan on getting a newer one soon... I just haven't decided what I should get. A Mac or order from Dell? Or should I choose a third option?

Depends on what you want the laptop for. I'm going to be using my laptop for coding and various media creating programs along with a personal note book for class. Mac is perfect for that.

Yeah, I have heard of that. One of the biggest things I'm going to be using my new laptop for is using alot of Game development software, as Well as Flash MX. So I guess maybe a Mac would be good for that.

I don't like MAC's.
Nothing technical, just don't like them for some reason.

And the OS is different compared to windows. But Vista is a lot more similar to Mac OS than any other windows OS.

i think MACs are better for the profession i'd like to be in, animating, maybe free lance or for a company. Due to the better graphic software.

My mom has the laptop in her room, hidden Luckily, I'm only $80 away from paying her off! It would be more, but Circuit City was having a special THE DAY we picked it up (lucky, eh?) and they took $90 off the bill.
