IGN posted an article on the usual Wii rumors (price $229, launch date Nov 2 or 12). More interesting one given by mysterious sources that IBM was in the process of shrinking & slowing down the Wii's Broadway chip for a "future Nintendo handheld". THEN THEY YANKED IT! ""At the request of our sources, who do not wish to go to jail this week" www.joystiq.com/2006/08/07/portable-gamecube-rumor-returns-briefly/

Fucking sweet. That portable looking gamecube looked interesting. It would work though. Too thick and also a bit wide.

Hmm, that would work. I would get it under certain conditions:
1. Wireless mulitplay and perhaps even wifi capabilities. 2. Gamecube memory cards could be put in it without them sticking out. 3. I want a good long battery life. 4. And if Nintendo promises that new gamecube games will continue to come out even after the release of the wii. Cuz whats the point of getting a handheld gamecube if no new gamecube games come out.
The battery life might be hard to achive with it being so small, but If nintendo works on it hard enough, it could happen. But eventually, sony would just copy off of it.
But, this could be the reason why nintendo decided to make the gamecube disks smaller, so that they could eventually make a handheld for it.
But only time will tell if it's a clever rumor or a secret that got discovered.

I wouldn't buy it. My ds can hold me over on car trips. Seems alright though. I think it will lose money for nintendo.

That looks awsome, but even if it was true it would still be too big and probably really expensive.

I have a screen that latched onto my GC, and then I just use a car-plug (I think one came with my screen) and I play in the car! I also have one for my PS2. Good fun!

Attachable screen for mobile play. Includes car games, lol!

Maybe they could be working on a Wii version. So you can be playing the Wii when you are out from your console in your hourse and on the road with the portable version of it. That could be cool.

That would be weird. I think the main reson you'd get a portable thing like would be to play it in the car. I don't think you'll be able to fling your arms around in a front seat distactiong the driver ;D!

the wii's only like, twice the size of a ds lite anyway, but they might just do the same thing that they did with the gcn:attachable screen etc.
