I dont know if you guys have heard of this, but I just found out. It was an add-on for the N64. If you look on the bottom of the N64, you can see some spots where a thing could have been plugged in. Well, that where this goes. Here is the link to the wikipedia site: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo_64DDIt offered online gamming, email, and webbrowsing. You could also attach a mouse to it!!!! This shows me that Nintendo has experience with this kind of stuff and they will probally use these experiences with the development of the Wii.

I'm sorry for the double post, but I remember some people talking about a new mario RPG. Well, Paper mario is the new mario RPG. If you click that wikipedia link, scroll down and look at the proposed games, on the right, you can see Mario RPG2. And in partentacies, it says released in cartrage as Paper Mario.
So, it was originally planned to be a CD game, but they had to dullen down the graphics and make some space for memory so that they could release it as a cartrage.

It wasnt sold in any retail store. Once you bought the 64DD, you would get a subscription to a special internet thing that was only for the N64. (its probally no longer in use by now) It was mostly an experiment for multiplayer games, but Nintedno was causious to make onther failure like the Virtual Boy at the time.

Wow that's pretty sick I didn't even know that existed, nintendo has always kicked ass for exparimental/inovative accessories. not all have been that great but they are really pushing gaming to the next level, an unknown level of mystical wonders and bountiful inspiration and creativity.
Nintendo...ROCKS!

Such big words! They're prasing nintendo of course...right? So, if they had a mouse on the N64, what about the Wii?

I doubt that for the wii, because it will be easier to use the remote as a mouse if you know what I mean.

You can still find the 64DD on eBay.
Not cheap mind you, and pretty pointless because they released bugger all games for it, and there's no more online support.
You may all be interested to know, however, that there was also an online service for the SNES, but it ceased in 1995. So Nintendo has been into the whole online gaming thing for a while.

Yeah, I've heard that Nintendo tried to do online with the gamecube (hence some games saying that you can play online). Hopefully, the Wii online will be as succesful as the DS's online.

The GC had LAN capabilities, but they may have built internet capabilities into it (but never followed through with anything but LAN) because if you do something you can get online with it with MKDD. Also, I had heard of the N64DD. TLoZ: Master Quest was going to be released for it, but they decided to just put it on the GC.

You can get online with it, I know some people who did. www.warppipe.com is supposed to teach you how to do it but I never really understood how to myself. Theres only like 3 games that are online compatible anyway, though. MK:DD, Kirby's Air Raid, and some snowboarding game I think..There might be more now, I'm not sure.

If there is a third party server set up (or connections are done Peer to Peer), then you could definitely still get the Gamecube online. I do use the term 'online' in it's loosest sense though.

Yup, It was able to read Phillips Compact Disks but it was only sold in Japan. The possibilities of finding a N64DD are very rare. And the only place that you can probably buy it is at eBay most likely. I'm going to go on there in a few minutes to see if they have any being sold. If I find any, I'll post a link to them.
