So today I played the DS Lite that my cousin bought for himself and I must say I had mixed emotions. Yes, I loved the sleekness of it all and I adored absolute crazy brightness that it's capable of, but even so I found myself a bit more uncomfortable and awkward while playing a few of my games.
The biggest grievance I have with the system is the Control Pad. Yes I'm glad the control pad on the Lite is better looking an possibly a bit more comfortable, but I definitely prefer the original DS's control pad. The game this was most evident on was Metroid Prime Hunters. It's just a lot more difficult (for me at least) to walk and strafe in the game while you're other hand is "aiming". Keep in mind though it's not as exaggerated as I might make it seem to be. The game is still playable and after a couple of rounds and several minutes of playing it I got more used to it.
Even so I must say that the only game I found that was overall better on the DS Lite was my New Super Mario Bros. game. That game is really awesome on the Lite. It's really the perfect match for the DS Lite, In my opinion. All my other games that I tested on my Buddy's DS Lite I found to be more harder to controll.
Now this isn't an official review so i'll ask you not to look too deeply into my words and to instead wait to try it yourself.
The DS Lite is overall better. I will gladly say that. But controll wise it will be a-whole-nother thing to get used to.

It was a whole nother thing to get used to with the orignal DS itself! I think just like with the org. DS, and most likely how it will be with the Wii, you'll just have to get used to it first. then it'll be like second nature ot ya.

No this isn't quite the same as that. I'm talking about the feel of the system in your hands. It's the same system so that's nothing new to me. I know how to play MPH well, but when I try it on the Lite it's a lot more unconfortable. It takes time to get used to holding it the right way.

Well, sacrifices must be made for sleekness, and brightness I guess.

It takes time to get used to. Obviously, when you're used to the more clicky d-pad of the DS "Phat", the more mushy Lite D-pad might be a bit awkward, and vice-versa. Personally, I got used to the Lite after I upgraded from the original and I find it much easier to press and play now. DS lite's buttons feel much more like a console.

Yes I see what you are saying. I like the buttons on the DS Lite better overall. But I will say that "clicky" style of the controll pad on the original DS is easier to use in some games.

Here's my personal opinion about the DS lite.
Only buy it if you're DS is broken, or if you dont have a DS in the first place. It's kinda the samw situation with that upgraded Gameboy Advance. What is it called gameboy micro? Gameboy mini?

I like my DS original better than the DS Lite. I like the heavy, chunky feeling of it. I think I have this subconcious thing where I associate the heaviness of an object with quality. And it seems to be at least partly true...the DS Lite is more prone to breakage than the original.
