That's right: they are malking a sequal to Spaceballs and they are making an animated series that will be on G4!! Wow, Finally G4's doing something better than Tech T.V. I'll first talk about the Animated Series.

Plans for an animated TV series spin-off of Mel Brooks' "Spaceballs" have come off.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Brooks' Brooksfilms Ltd. has teamed up with MGM Studios, cable network G4 and Berliner Film Companie GmbH for an animated TV series based on the 1987 Star Wars spoof.
G4 has exclusively licensed the first run of "Spaceballs: The Animated Series" for the U.S. market.
The series, which already is in production on 13 half-hour episodes, is set to debut on the network in fall 2007. Like the feature film, which parodied well-known science-fiction movies, the series will spoof current blockbusters as well as every genre of entertainment from movies and reality TV to culture and politics. Brooks, who will voice two characters in the show, co-wrote the pilot with Thomas Meehan. Meehan has co-written three film projects with Brooks, including "Spaceballs," and will oversee all writing for the series' first 13 episodes."
I am so happy that they are doing this. I really can't wait to see what they decide to do with this series. There really is endless possibilites and I'm sure, what ever they do will be amazing.
Now Spaceballs 2. It seems liek Mel Brooks has been working on this for a long time. The first time the public knew about this movie was when he mentioned it to playbill when they asked him if he was going to be in the Movie The Producers. He said He wouldn't but than he said something about him being in Spaceballs 2. Here is where he says that:
"Playbill: Will you have a role in it?
MB: It's doubtful, but I'm writing myself back into the Spaceballs sequel that I'm now writing, so you haven't seen the last of my face. Why another Spaceballs? It wouldn't feel right have anyone else play Yoghurt and the first one was the best experience I've had making a movie since Blazing Saddles.
Playbill: When can we expect that?
MB: Best case scenario: a week before the new Star Wars opens. Worst Case Scenario: a year after the new star wars opens."
This had to be written before Star Wars 3 came out so I guess it will be the worst case scenario. Just like the T.V. series I can't wait. Discuss what you think about this.
