I know there has been favorite game threads, but what are your guys favorite rpg's from all of the consoles, not just nintendo, or retro. List them as long as you can. If you want tell a little about the game and what you liked about it.
Here's mine:
1. Tales of Symphonia (gc)
-Hands down the best battle system to date. Thats why i like it so much. The story is mediocre in the first half but is pretty epic in the second half. Graphics are cellshaded but i think thats cool.
2. The Legend of Dragoon (ps1)
-One of sony's only rpgs. The battle system is great and only gets beaten out by ToS. The story is decent, and it is a very long game (around 50 hours). The graphics were WAY ahead of its time, especially in the cutscenes, its almost ps2 graphics.
3. Final Fantasy X (ps2)
-My favorite storyline of all time, it kept me into the game the whole time and felt the most attatched as i beat the game. A normal turn based battle system and good graphics.
4. Chrono Trigger (snes)
-A game that was ahead of its time, and still holds up to new rpgs today. Story is good, and the characters are very memorable. It was one of the first games to pioneer the active time battle system wich is very fun.
5. Kingdom Hearts (ps2)
-To me the story was a little bland, but the gameplay made up for it. Its almost like a "beat em up" kind of game, but still involves skill.
6. Super Mario RPG (snes)
-A very nonserious game. Its fun to play a game like this everyonce in a while to get away from all the epic storylines. The battle system was very original, and interactive.
7. Tales of Phatasia (snes)
-Just like its prequel (ToS) it has a very good battle system in 2d. The storyline is lacking, but thne gameplay was fun.
8. Final Fantasy VII (ps1)
-a great story, mediocre gameplay. Graphics were a little above par for its time. This game has had so many spinoffs, and is considered by many to be squares holy grail (just not me lol)
I have played many other rpgs bt there is to many to list, and the others just dont match up to these. The first 5 games on my list are very close in terms of being my favorites, after 5 tho there is a larger gap.
I hope other rpg fans will contribute ;D
