its about time square enix did something good with final fnatasy other than run it to death and the result is fucking amazing
dissidia is an action rpg beat em up game, slashing and hacking with strategies and numbers assisting the health bars. the selling point is that it has 2 characters from each game up to ten, the hero and the villain.
the story goes that 2 god- chaos the god of dischord- and cosmos the goddes of harmony have kept the forces of good and evil in balance during all the courses of the 10 games, but now chaos has united all the villains and given them crystals that have weakened cosmos. but now shes united the heroes to collect them back.
the gameplay is very impressive for a psp game since the arenas and characters are full 3-d, before the battles you move the character around a board and direct them to the villain of the board (or hero when the villains story comes round). the actuall fighting mechanics seem pretty weird at first. each character has hp as usual but we have a new thing called bp or "battle points", each fighter starts with the same amount but can steal some from the opponent from a certain attack button. you can still attack normally but the point of bp is so you can use different damage attacks, the more you have the more damage your gonna deal. theres another new thing called the ex meter, this will fill up when you deal damage, take damage, or find items around the stage. when this is full your character enters a state where you deal more damage (some characters change appearance like sephy growing that faggot black wing) and are able to use the characters ultimate attack, typical how theyve shown the first battle with cloud and sephiroth but it shows all whats to come
light forces: warrior of light, firion. onion knight, cecil, butz, terra, cloud. squall, zidane and tidus
villains: garland, emporer, cloud of darkness, golbez, exdeath, kefka, sephiroth, ultimecia, kuja and jecht.
overall i am blown away by the very concept of the game, the game can only be better with secret characters and online play, im most looking forward to fighting with my favourites butz and zidane
