Okay, so we all know there is only 1 female Smurf. This surely means that she is a sex slave, and is used to keep the race from dying out. She alone must give birth to thousands of Smurfs (or maybe just 50 or so), until a new female is born. This can be accepted as fact, how else would the Smurf species not die out?
Now, this is all speculation, but assuming that the average Smurf life span is 110-120 years (haven't seen the show in about 10 years, so I can't remember if the show ever alludes to how long Smurfs live) we can guess that a female is born once every 100 years. Once she matures a bit, she will become the new sex slave, and give birth to the next generation of Smurfs.
Now onto the Gerudos.
The Gerudo, unlike the Smurfs, are all female, with only 1 male. The male is born every 100 years, and becomes the king of the Gerudo.
I assume that unlike the Smurfs, that lone Gerudo is not responsible for keeping the race alive. My guess is that the Gerudo have a lifespan more like the average human, since they're a race of people, rather than a species. A gossip stone near Hyrule Temple mentions that the Gerudo go to town to pick up guys* (which is probably why there are no Gerudo later on in the timeline. [Games like Wind Waker have no Gerudo, correct?] Because using non-Gerudo men would result in the Gerudo line gradually getting less and less pure, until they're pretty much just Hylians)
Therefore..!
I have no idea. I'm just on a sugar high and this popped into my head. Feel free to pick apart my claims/pelt me with rotten fruit. I'm off to go run in circles. Whee!!
*Thanks Kirbykiller4 for pointing this out!
