Since I know about WWII, I'll say the Battle of London. The British survived a long air battle against the Nazis while their captial was getting destroyed. If the British gave up or gave out in the battle, then Germany could have controlled all of Europe. There was no such battle. Nor was there any real attempt during the war to invade Britain. I know what your thinking but operation Sea lion was just to keep Britain occupied. It has emerged that the German Army and Navy couldn't muster enough landing boats to sucessfully invade. And only the poor East end was really "destroyed" We Brits defeated the German Navy and the Air force but it was the Red Army hat Crushed the SS and the Whermact and Panzer corps. But the real turning point in my opinion was Kursk. Stalingrad was a victory but it was a defensive victory with sieges and counter sieges. The Kursk was the First major battle were the Red army showed its might offensivly and began its march into the heart of the Reich.

Yes, that is true. For the Japanese Rising sun empire, it was the Battle of Guadalcanal. That was the final stop of the Japanese advancing to gain new lands to their empire, as the Marines stopped them and turned over the tables.

Germany lost both World War I and II and got broken into two nations for their fault. Now they have learned their lesson that if they have a problem, then the world can stop them.

Good thing they lose the war. Actually that was British intelligence who rigged that up. And heres a list of Europen Nations. (not complete). Bulgaria,France,Romania, AustroHuangary,Belgium,Britain,America,Russia,Serbia,Italy(fought on both sides). The Ottomon Empire and armies from all of Europes empires where raised and sent to the lines. Germany lost both Waorld ! and II and got broken into two nations for their fault. Now they have learned their lesson that if they have a problem, then the world can stop them. Germany didn't start World War 1. Techniqauely Serbia did with the assaination of the Austro Hungarian Emperor's Nephew. However only the Emperor Serbia and Russia actually seemed to care. The problem was that they had allies. You see the main goal of these Allied Empires was to prevent a war in Europe on the Scale of...well the First WW1. That was the Problem, When a minor dispute happened it would snowball because they couldn't lose face. This is oddly similar to the Cold War Scenario. The Cold Claimed 30 million war deaths around the world through Revolutions Regimes and Civil wars being Controlled by the USA and USSR.

Just both the Korean and Vietnam War which was the cause of the 30 millions war deaths of the Cold War. No it wasn't im talking world wide with all those dictatorships in latin America, Africa etc. Nearly all those Cuops and Civil Wars were funded either by The US or the USSR. The Vietnam and Korean casulities combined don't come close to 10 million never mind 30.

Unfortunatly the old warcrews war machine seems to be dying. i recomend we concentrate one this "new start" Cool. Great to see another soldier from the Old War Crew So what about the Bay of the Pigs (or something like that). What was that all about? The Bay of Pigs was a plan by the American Government to overthrow Castro's government using Cuban refugees (most of whom where supporters of Batista's regime) as an invasion force with help from the US Airforce, The plan failed mainly because the american Air Force failed to destroy Cuba's airforce. As a result the Refugee army was pinned down and massacred by the Cuban retaliation. Viva la Revolucion!

From an entertainment point of view i'd say Enemy at the Gates. And it is somwhat realistic attimes (though rarely) if not accurate.
But i suppose Downfall is my overall favorite with a good story and very accurate.
The plot is Hitlers last days in the bunker and The Reich in Berlin from several viewpoints and its based on eye witness accounts with a few Skirmishes in between for action.
