Ive always thought that none of the sequels coming out these days really seem to meet everyones expectations.
For instance,i am a zelda fan and i was dissapointed by TP,but is it nintendos fault,or is it the choice they have to make between keeping a game traditional, and making so original that fans would have a problem with it.
And when they do something new,it really just copies off of other games, like Kingdom Hearts II,they decided to put in a little RE4 button pressing minigame.and there was also the cliche dark world, seen in games like LOZ:TP and metroid prime II.and lets not forget the main character changing into a dark form,as seen in LOZ:TP,KH2,prince of persia 3,and a few other games that sucked.
So we have to wonder,is it the originalty we liked about games, did we like KH because it had the perfect balance of disney and final fantasy, did we like ocarina of time because it basically created a new genre, did we like RE4 because it scrapped that stupid camera from every survival horror game and brought us a new camera that would later be used in such hits as gears of war?
now please post your opinions, and dont be mad if i was harsh to the sequels, because there all good, just not great.

Well just for example Smash Bros Melee was better then the original and Pikmin 2. And we're hoping SSSB willo be better than both the original and the sequel. I guess it's all a matter of taste. The hardcore fanboys prefer things to be traditional, while the more casual gamer prefers newer additions.

Yeah, SSBM was better than SSB, and I wouldn't be suprised if SSBB was better than SSBM
Also, Mario Kart 64 > Mario Kart SNES
SMB3 > SMB 1 and 2
And recently, Sonic Adventure 2 > Sonic Adventure
Alot of games aren't as good as originals, but some games are.
EDIT: It's also a matter of opinion

Yeah it depends on what type of games you are talking about since there are a lot of good sequel games.
There's the Paper Mario series, Mario Kart series, Mortal Kombat series and other series with good sequels that I didn't mention. You see there are some that you have to think about and what others also say about it to.

I preferred Halo 2 to Halo, I disagree so much. I thought Halo 1 was Brilliant. Halo 2 was just trying to milk success that it got from the first one. I guess I just feel this way because I never played it on Xbox Live. I heard that that was the best feature.

Halo 3 might be the best of both but we will have to see.. And with the Smash Bros Series..lets just say.. Super Smash Bros-Had the difficulty Super Smash Bros Melee-Had the great amount of content Super Smash Bros Brawl-Has things that should have been originally in melee, and might beat Melee as being the best one..(I mean come on, melee could have had the option to jump and shoot also and it could have had snake, but the game was already out)

You said TP was a dissapointment for a sequel, its not a sequal its another story, another legend no correlation with other zelda games, only references.
Some sequals totally rape the original turok 2 was better than turok. Though turok 3 licked balls yo. (Cant count evolution it has nothing to do with the main 3) I like alot of sequals better, I like bajo tooie much better than banjo kazooie, though theyre both amazing games..

ya Banjo Tooie was awesome.
I liked the idea of an overworld, rather than just Grunty's castle. The way you got to levels in the first one was a bit of a ripoff of Mario 64. Go forward through levels, you have to have so many jiggies to open a level, the puzzle is right at the level, and it's all inside a castle. (Although I like Banjo Kazooie more than Mario 64)
But Banjo Tooie was an overworld, and you had to backtrack to open up new levels. Also, Banjo Tooie broke out of the norm and had Banjo and Kazooie KEEP what they've learned!
Banjo Tooie definitely > Banjo Kazooie

depends what the thing is, whether its game or movie. some things deserves a sequel but sometimes the sequel lets it down as the topic names says, things like blade and the mummy

final fantasy X-2 compares nowere near to how good FFX is. Super Contra is better then the orignal Contra. Gran tourismo 3 was better then 1 and 2 (havent played 4)
Tony hawks proskater 4 is the best of the series. Metal Gear Solid 2 is the best of the series hmm thats all i can think of for right now that havent already been mentioned. all based on my opinion

Tony hawks proskater 4 is the best of the series. Metal Gear Solid 2 is the best of the series Although, I respect your opinion,I'm going to have to disagree with the Tony Hawk statment. I think Tony Hawk 2 was amazing. FUn, easy, and overall the best. For MGS, I've only played 1 and 2 and I think 2 is better than 1. Haven't played 3.

Tony hawk 2 is the best, great music too, the moon level is immense. I see we are getting into the Tony Hawk games, my favourite was underground. You weren't bound to your board like in the Pro Skaters and it was really fun. Also it had an alright story. Underground 2 even though fun and funny failed in comparison to the first one.

TH:PS 4 for me. I spent ages on the huuuugggeeee bowls in the London levels. Plus, carnival was fun. And the goals were always challenging. Well, ish.

Final Fantasy 3 owned FF1 and 2, but Castlevania was much better than Castlevania 2.

Final Fantasy 5 owns them all.
Sequals with films, Terminator 2 was better than the 1st, but the 3rd sucked. Rambo 3 is the best one, and the 4th does look good. Rocky films sucked. Godfather 2 was better than the 1st but the 3rd wasnt too good. Naruto movie 2 was better than the 1st and better than the 3rd. Lethal weapon 3 is the best, the 4th wasnt too good. Jurassic Park is the greatest, 2nd was good, 3rd licked balls.
But, its all opinion.

you cant bring up final fantasy unless your talking about X, X-2 or final fantasy tactics series which are the only ones who actually have sequels. all the other final fantasy are unrelated therefore cannot be called a sequel
