You heard me right, The Big 3 (Nintendo, Sony, & Microsoft) are now getting and beginning to plan their ideas for the next wave of systems. Even though the ones that came out in 2005 and 2006, they are getting ready for another attack of systems. Here are some of the facts and rumors of each of the three and their future systems (the thing is long):
Nintendo: (Codename: Supernatural?, Element?)
Facts: Not much is out by Nintendo but there was an article from Japan that said that Nintendo is planning to release a new Game Boy system (I hope it is a new one and not like the ones that had come out before such as Game Boy SP & Game Boy Micro) & that besides telling that there is a new Wii Zelda game under way (maybe a late 2008/early 2009 release), a worker of Nintendo has told that Nintendo is thinking about the future system while some of the workers are drawing some ideas of how the system could look like. Hmmm....this looks good for us Nintendo fans.
Rumors: Some crazy sites are thorwing out rumors that the next Nintendo system could be code named: "Nintendo Supernatural" while others are saying that it could be "Nintendo Element" (which to me doesn't sounds bad). Either one, it's not going to be those since we all know that the Nintendo Wii's code name was the Nintendo Revolution (which sounded good but Wii also sounds good.)
Sony: (Codename: PS4, PlayStation 4)
Facts: On the 2007 February issue of GamePro, page 24, there is a article that says that Sony has talked to SmartHouse of Sydney about launching the PS4 no sooner than 2010. But the Vice President of Sony Techonolgy, Paul Holman says that it's to early to talk about the PS4 since the PS3 just came out and many game developers are busy with the current-gen systems (Wii, 360, PS3) but expect to hear more news about it.
There is a 95% that the system's name is going to be PlayStation 4.
Rumors: Many rumors are flying on the internet forums that the system may be smaller but it could also be bigger since the hardware is growing everytime a new PS system comes out (example: PS1=small, PS2=a little big, PS3=more bigger, PS4=computer size?) or Sony is now going to make it small to the size of the PS2.
Also they are saying that the controller could still look like the current ones. Do not expect this to happen since Sony may change it.
Microsoft: (Codename: Xbox 3 or Xbox 720?)
Facts: On a edition of Game Head on Spike TV, a Microsoft worker told the reporter that the company is now working on the designs on how the system currently code named: "Xbox 3" which could see light when the 10's of 2000 millenium hits by.
Rumors: Many internet sites are telling that the official for the system could be "Xbox 720" since they are saying that Microsoft could be doing the math thing for the system since if you add 360+360=720. But who knows what the real name is going to be.
All Three:
Facts: Expect them that the three systems could come out back-to-back just like the past systems (2000-2001: 1st. PS2, 2nd. Xbox, 3rd. Gamecube, 2005-2006: 1st. Xbox 360, 2nd. PS3, 3rd. Wii)
These wave of major systems will be the eighth-generation era, right now we are in the seventh-generation era of the history of home consoles.
Rumors: The eighth-generation systems could begin to come out in 2010 or 2011.
