Ive started this thread as this is quite a hot topic so i decided we should have this debate here. But first off i do believe in God but believe in variety and free speech(at least until the revolution) but please back up your views and beliefs don't just come up with "there no God" or"athiests are stoopid" lets try an intelligent mannered debate shall we.

Hm, this is really more of a Religious matter than Political. Suffice to say Political problems have sprung from Religious matters, but if that's the case then it should be a little more specific.

Yea but i already asked for a politics board. Didn't want to push my luck besides havn't you seen the propaganda adverts? "Politics is everything". Plus if you look at a lot of other forums who have Politics boards i think you'll find a lot of Religion flame war threads.

Well, I belive in God, but I do have some friends that don't. I think that there actually was a good, and some, not all, of the stories in the bible are true.

I personally am Catholic, but I'm open-minded in the sense that I respect other people's beliefs and acknowledge thier right to free religious choices.
But think about it, since the dawn of man there has always been beliefs based on what happens in the afterlife and on supreme beings who created the world. After all, there's no way you can honestly believe that every single thing in this world happened by pure chance! How can something as beutiful and complex just spring up without some plan of design? But then again, what do I know. I could be completely wrong.

I'm agnostic, I don't believe in any religions but the theory of a god is interesting.

Well you are aware that the old testament the one in the Jew Bible though prone to leaps of faith do have a few Scientific theories to back bits of it up. For example Genesis. It says God created light but created the Sun after light. But the atom has electrons spinning round it, no one knows why they do that but it has been theorised that it has somthing to do with the electro magnet spectrum (Light) which creates atoms which are the building blocks of matter. Plus if we look at Evolution and creation from a scientific method we see that there is always another smaller layer. DNA,Atoms,Protons,Electrons etc. Therefore there must of been somthing which started of the chain and there is nothing in our universe that could start of that chain of events. Which means there must be some thing outside are understanding and indeed existence that was the first cause. Thats just a cosmological arguement.

Does god control karma,or is karma of no existence. The holocaust claimed many jews, and other various people, most of which I believe were not Christians. So was the holocaust an act of karma,or god accidentally creating a monster who, because of free will, did that. Ahh, but wait, God could've only intended that to happen for he is omnipresent no? Things like this disturb me and keep me from being productive, efficient, whatever you say. I don't let this bother me, so to this thread I may not be of use. If someone could answer my question I shall be most grateful though.

OMG Bran-Man is reveling some secrets!Well, I decided to check out the political section and personally, I hate politics. But I saw that I'm technically a mod to the politics section even though I never post in it. I gave the topics a quick scan and saw this one. I've already somewhat told my parents this a quite a few friends, but not many know, but I think modern religion is corrupt. I've watched the history channel a lot in my lifetime and see that man's greed has gotten in the way of trustworthiness. I have the common belief, though, that there might be a "god" or "higher being" out there somewhere that created us to an extent. I have the thought that god created us or some sort of life form that led to us. Basically I think that he doesn't care what we do as long as it's in a positive way. I keep the thought that we should all be nice to and have good will and to do what you must to keep you and your fellow man to survive. Like some religions are against abortions, where I'm not. Some churches don't like gay/lesbians, where I don't mind them. And there's that whole "wait for marriage for sex" where I frankly don't care what I do before marriage. I don't know what you'd call me, but something that I consider close is Deist. I found it while researching Thomas Jefferson (he was one) and I read a few paragraphs and it sounds familiar to my beliefs. Quote from wikipedia article: "Deists typically reject supernatural events (prophecy, miracles) and divine revelation prominent in organized religion, along with holy books and revealed religions that assert the existence of such things. Instead, deists hold that religious beliefs must be founded on human reason and observed features of the natural world, and that these sources reveal the existence of one God or supreme being." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DeistSo yeah, that's my stance on that subject.... IM me if you must. =/
